Why LinkedIn is great for manufacturing businesses

March 2020Helen

LinkedIn is especially important for businesses in the manufacturing sector that often operate in niche, specialist areas where other social media platforms – like Facebook and Twitter – just aren’t relevant.

LinkedIn is a great way to make important connections and an active LinkedIn profile (posting comments and articles and updating your profile regularly) you can enhance your business’s credibility, putting it firmly on the radar of companies who need the products you make.

LinkedIn has more than 660 million members

80% of B2B leads come from LinkedIn vs. 13% on Twitter & 7% on Facebook.

5 reasons to get active on LinkedIn:

  1. It’s a great way to build brand awareness and drive people to your website – share success stories, product launches, new hires and case studies.
  2. It’s cost effective, hassle free networking – you’ll save time and money compared to going to a physical networking event
  3. It’s a great way to keep up with what your customers and competitors are doing and keep an eye on industry trends – have a play with LinkedIn Pulse.
  4. LinkedIn groups are a great way to connect with people in your sector you’d like to get to know. There are over 40 groups with the word manufacturing in their title on LinkedIn.
  5. Become an expert in your field and draw attention to your products and services in a non-evasive way.

The proof: How LinkedIn helps grow a business globally

FIG writes articles and blogs for our marketing partners, helping to position them as experts in their field. One of the articles we published for one of our Marketing Partners, talked about how their innovative solutions are helping universities save energy costs, improve safety and meet sustainability targets.

Agreed it’s a pretty niche topic but it was obviously of interest to many of the MD’s LinkedIn connections and soon more than 50 people had liked the article. What’s more, it led to a business in the US getting in touch and placing an order. That’s the power of LinkedIn and why manufacturers should be using it.
