FIG Provides the Feel-Good Factor for the Buxton Crescent

It’s been a long time coming, but the High Peak’s most striking building, the Buxton Crescent, recently opened as the 5* luxury Ensana Buxton Crescent Health Spa Hotel, and FIG was delighted to be asked to provide design and marketing support for this much-loved project.

Originally built by the fifth Duke of Devonshire to position Buxton as England’s leading spa destination back in the 18th century, after recent and extensive refurbishment, the Buxton Crescent Ensana Health Spa Hotel is once again a highly attractive place to stay for visitors to the town.

The Grade I Listed Georgian building is now a 5* 81 room luxury hotel complete with restaurant, bar and health spa which is now open to the public – and we couldn’t be happier to see it take pride of place within the picturesque spa town of Buxton.

FIG first began talking to the Buxton Crescent marketing team last year to deliver design and marketing support for the launch and all printed and digital collateral, ready for the launch in 2020. Our designers were given a private tour to help us get a feel for the scale and atmosphere of the hotel (which blew our socks off, we have to say) and we began the huge task of designing all the necessary collateral needed for the grand opening.

This included key card holders, baggage tags, stationery and phone pads for the reception areas; door hangers, water bottle tags, room service menus and housekeeping cards for the bedrooms, along with menus for the various bars and restaurants, and even warning stickers for the lifts, to ensure that everything was on brand, right down to the smallest detail.

Opening as the first UK location under the Ensana brand of Health Spas and Hotels, the Buxton Crescent already had brand guidelines in place which gave us a head start on designing the majority of their collateral, although we were able to bring through elements of the period designs found around the building to create its own identity. For instance, the menus feature a Georgian flourish similar to the design found within the breath-taking ceiling of the Blue Room.
